Louisiana Coalition for Adoption Reform reached out and partnered with State Representative Charles "Chuck" Owen to help craft and worked tirelessly to advocate passage of Louisiana HB 450 now Act 470.
Act 470 restores the right to an adult adopted person to access their own original birth certificate upon demand, at the age of 24. Act 470 went into effect August 1, 2022.
Louisiana Coalition for Adoption Reform is a non-partisan grassroots 501(c)(4) non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of the rights of adult adopted people to have access upon demand to their pre-adoption birth certificate.
